Sri Lanka Army is highly committed on the task of eradicate of COVID - 19 pandemic and maintain concession of the people. On the direction of Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, SFHQ - KLN extended support to the people and Government mechanism in Kilinochchi District to control the spreading of COVID-19 pandemic.
To achieve above mission, under the direction of Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi, Major General HMJK Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP ndc psc and close supervision of the General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Major General DMHD Bandara RWP RSP USP, troops of 65 Division distributed 225 dry ration packs worth of approximately one million to low income families in Ponnagar, Wellankulam and Uilankulam villages on 11 April 2020.
On the request made by the General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Watawala Tea Ceylon Ltd and its active partner Massone BTL Pvt Ltd sponsored the supply of those essentials. Each packs included Rice, Dhal, Sugar, Tea, Soya Packets, Onions, Potatoes, Tin Fish, Sprats and Salt packets.
