65 Division marked its 11th year Anniversary day with formal military traditions on 26 Dec 19. This Headquarters was raised in 2008 in order to support the Humanitarian Operation and later establish at Mallavi under the Security Forces Kilinochchi.
On 27th morning, the anniversary day, a Guard of Honour, accorded to General Officer Commanding of 65 Division, by the Battalions under 65 Division. Later, Major General K A W Kumarapperuma USP was accompanied by Staff Officers to plant a sapling in front of the Headquarter Building as a part of the programme.
Then all officers and other ranks of the Headquarters participated for the tea party with the General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division and followed by the troop address conducted by Major General K A W Kumarapperuma USP. He extended his sincere gratitude during the address to parents, children, husbands and wives of officers, other ranks, members of civilian staff serving in 65 Division for their encouragement given to beloved war heroes and ran domestic affairs in the absence of their next of kin.
Further, volley ball and cricket tournament was organized among the sections within the Division to build the cohesiveness. A grand musical show will be held on 28 evening at the Headquarters premises to mark the culmination of anniversary celebrations.
