Under the guidance of Major General Pradeep de Silva RSP, the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, the troops of 57 Division organized religious rituals at Kilinochchi Kandasami Kovil to celebrate the Diwali at 1200 hour on 27 October 2019. This was organized with the aim of strengthening the reconciliation efforts between the military and civilians in the area of responsibility. General Officer Commanding 57 Division and other senior officers participated for the pooja. Around 150 soldiers participated in the pooja along with over 300 civilians in the area of the responsibility.
A programme for distributing school accessories for the school children also was organized subsequently. In that, 150 parcels were distributed among the 150 school children who participated in the pooja. The financial assistance for the donations was extended by the under command brigades.
