CONSTRUCTED THREE WATER STORAGE TANK ON REQUEST

662 Infantry Brigade - Paranthan heeding to a humanitarian appeal made by the Chairman of Urthirapuram Kovil Committee – Urthirapuram constructed three water storage tanks at Urthirapuram, Kumarapuram and Umayalapuram villages at Kilinochchi district on 03 August 2019 with the help of 20 SLLI and 1 GR troops.

Mrs Sri Rajini, Chairman of Urthirapuram Kovil Committee, extending a personal request to Colonel Ravi Pathiravithana – Commander 662 Infantry Brigade while conducting Religious Leaders meeting at 662 Brigade Headquarters highlighted the hardships, being experienced by locals in the area due to scarcity of drinking water.

After an initial action taken with the guidance and assistance made by the Commander SF HQ (KLN), consented to the construction of these three water tanks as a community project by the Army.

Army troops are still continuing the relief operation for supply of drinking water in those affected areas using own Army bowsers.
