THE ARMY COORDINATED THE DISTRIBUTION OF DRY RATION PACKS TO THE FLOOD-AFFECTED VILLAGERS

A total of 100 selected families from Uriyan West, Paranamoddai, Upparu, Pulingathevan Kandal, Mangayan Murippu, Puthukkulam and Paley Korakkankanddu villages under the Kandaweli Divisional Secretariat in the Uriyan and Murusamotei Grama Seva Division were donated dry-ration packets, each worth about Rs. 3000/= following coordination, done by 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops serving the 573 Brigade in the 57 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi.

“The Manusath Derana” in response to the Army requested to assist those people who, were affected by Heavy Flood. The beneficiaries had their houses badly affected during the most recent floods and the Grama Niladhari had brought their desperate situation to the notice of the troops serving in the area.

These gift packets, are contained with rice, sugar, dhal, tin fish, noodles, tea, biscuit packets, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes and few other essentials and distributed on 27 December 2018 during a brief ceremony at Murugananda Primary School in Uriyan.

Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding - 57 Division, Commander 573 Brigade, Colonel Janaka Ranasinghe, Commanding Officer 1 SLSR, Senior Officers, Officers, participated in the occasion under the guidance of the Commander Security Force Kilinochchi, Major Genaral Ralph Nugera.

Several community leaders and state officials also participated in the occasion.
