The 10,000M road run, The much-awaited third endurance testing event of the 57 Division, was successfully conducted on 09 Dec 17. This event was intended to enhance the willpower, determination, teamwork and to maintain the physical efficiency of troop of 57 Division. The 10,000m road run was organized by the Commander 573 Brigade, Colonel R A J N Ranasingha RSP USP and 57 Division, with the direction of General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc.\r\n\r\nThis ‘10,000M road run’ was conducted consecutively in third time by the 57 Division. For the first race 125 soldiers and for the second race 225 soldiers took part. For the third race 21 Officers and 502 soldiers participated from Division Headquarter, Brigade Headquarters and under command Battalions of 57 Division. The race was started from MANKULAM junction and finished at OLUMADU junction (1 KM from old Kandy road towards AMPAKAMAM). \r\n\r\nThere was a huge competition among individual’s and battalion teams. S/93103 Rec Madusanka D M S of 6th Battalion of Sri Lanka National Guard won the race and 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Singhe Regiment became the team champions. The certificates were awarded for first 25 soldiers and for team champion by the General Officer Commanding of 57 Division. ‘Guardians’ the beat group of Sri Lanka National Guard entertained the soldiers who took part in the race after the prize distribution.
