NEEDY STUDENTS IN KILINOCHCI GET SCHOOL ACCESSORIES
In another community welfare project under the Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) programme, 65 Division under Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi, organized a donation of school items for needy children in Thenniyankulam Government Tamil Mixed School - Thunukkai on 07 December 2017. \r\n\r\nWith the intention of enhancing the reconciliation programme in the Kilinochchi District, the donation was made by Mr Neel Weerasinghe in Colombo accommodating a request made by the Major General Sarath Weerwardena RSP USP IG General Officer Commanding - 65 Division.\r\n\r\nA total of 91 students of low - income families from Thunukkai area were chosen to receive those incentives. The donation consisted of exercise books, bags, school shoes and other essential stationary items, worth of Rs. 250,000/=.\r\n\r\nApart from that, the financial support to the value of Rs 100,000/= was contributed by same donor to renovate the school buildings in Thenniyankulam Government Tamil Mixed School and 65 Division troops provided their assistance to renovated the school buildings.\r\n\r\nMajor General Sarath Weerwardena RSP USP IG General Officer Commanding - 65 Division, Mr Neel Weerasinghe, Senior Officers, school principal, teachers and parents attended for the event.
