LAUNCHED COLLECTIVE CALYPSO PERFORMANCES AT 57 DIVISION

Calypso band, a byproduct of the Caribbean music traditions which has gained popularity among Sri Lankan music fans too for many years, has made great strides and claims equal prominence, among Army soldiers serving round the island.\r\n\r\nGiving a new revival to this merry-making feature in the Army, Calypso training session was conducted for calypso teams in 57 Division from 16th October 2017 to 30th November 2017 under the direction of General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General H J S Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc. \r\n\r\nThis training session was well benefited for the all the calypso teams to brush-up their knowledge as well as their talent on calypso music and art of performance. After completion of 45 days training at 572 Brigade under the supervision of Commander 572 Brigade, they have display their performance in front of the Commander of the Army at the officers mess dinner night which was conducted concurrent to the official visit of Commander of the Army to Security Forces - Kilinochchi. There performance was admired by all present for the evening function.\r\n\r\nThis calypso training session was conducted by veteran musician Mr. K A G Chandrapala with the invitation of General Officer Commanding - 57 Division.
