As a support for “National Food Production Campaign - 2017”, 57 Division launched a Coconut tree planting campaign in Kilinochchi, under the patronage of Major General HJS Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding 57 Division. Distribution ceremony of 2500 Coconut saplings were took place on 01st November 2017 at “Utility Building - 57 Division”. \r\n\r\nAll Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers from Security Forces (Kilinochchi), Civil Security Department personnel, Mr. Kasun Rathnayaka, Coconut Development Officer Mullattivu District, Mr. Danujan, Coconut Development Officer Kilinochchi District and civil personnel participated for the event. During this event, Mr. Kasun Rathnayaka conducted a presentation on conducting a successive coconut plantation. \r\n\r\nThe entire event was coordinated by 17(V) battalion of Gajaba Regiment. These plants were distributed among the troops of under command Brigade, Battalion in Security Forces (Kilinochchi) and civil personnel. General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General HJS Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc graced the occasion as the chief guest.\r\n\r\nThese coconut saplings will be planted in camp premises of Brigades and Battalions which are under command to Security Forces (Kilinochchi) and civil areas in the Kilinochchi as the direct by the Coconut Cultivation Board. Further, this project was launched to support \"Natural Food Production Campaign - 2017\". \r\n
