TROOPS GIVE THEIR HANDS TO HANDICAPPED PEOPLE IN KILINOCHCHI
With the guidance of Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc, troops under Security Forces Kilinochchi flag launched another round of distribution of artificial limbs among the affected in low-income group families in collaboration with the Centre for the Handicapped in Kundasale to show off their concern towards the predicament of the handicapped in Kilinochchi area. \r\n\r\nAs a Community Assistance activity of Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchithe, programme was commenced in close liaison with civil authorities and Grama Seva Officials at first identified the most wanted before their measurements for artificial limbs were taken in consultation with medical officers in respective areas. \r\n\r\nValue of Rs: 1.6 million artificial limbs were distributed at the ceremony that was held at Harmony Centre - Kilinochchi. The ceremony was presided by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi and Dr. S.S Attanayake, Prosthetist and Orthotist and his team of the Centre for the Handicapped in Kundasale who are also the sponsors of the project. Earlier, 13 September in 2016, the same projects were launched in Kilinochchi and distributed a similar stock of artificial limbs among members in low-income group families.\r\n \r\nThe programme was organized by the 57 Division together with 571 Brigade and 5 Sri Lanka Armored Corps. General Officer Commanding - 65 Divisions, Major General Sarath Weerawardhana RSP USP IG, General Officer Commanding - 57 Division Brigadier Athula Galagamage, Brigadier General Staff, Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi, Brigadier Jagath Rathnayake RWP RSP USP, Director of Kilinochchi Hospital Dr. Jeyarasa, Commanders of 571 and 573 Brigades, Senior Officers, Officers and Civilians participated in the humanitarian programme.\r\n
