NEW COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES - KILINOCHCHI ASSUMED DUTIES AS 10TH COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES - KILINOCHCHI
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc assumed duties as the Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF - KLN) on 16 January 2017, in accordance with military traditions. Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana reviewed the Guard Turnout and received the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the 9th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment after his arrival at the Headquarters premises.\r\n\r\nInvocation of blessings of the Maha Sangha, chanting of Seth Pirith, religious rites of all religions and rituals got underway at the office of the Commander while signing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at a auspicious minute.\r\n\r\nAfter assuming the duties, newly appointed Commander planted a ‘Mango’ sapling at the premises, before addressed the troops at the Security Forces Headquarters auditorium. \r\n\r\nPrior to his new appointment, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana held the appointment of the Director General, General Staff at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff at Army Headquarters. He had previously commanded three Infantry Divisions, namely 55, 61 and 68 Divisions. Presently he is also holding the appointment of Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.\r\n\r\nGeneral Officers commanding of all Divisions and the Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (Kilinochchi) and Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and a large number of Other Ranks participated the events.\r\n
