SRI LANKA ARMY FACILITATES THE FUNARAL OF AN EX COMBATANT WHO WAS KILLED BY HIS OWN COMRADE

Sabarathnam Naguleshwaran, an ex combatant who was living with his family in Ganeshapuram Village in the area of Wellankulam of Manthai West was shot at by a person suspect to be a comrade of his, whilst working in his own backyard preparing Cement Blocks with two of his relatives around 830 pm on 12 November 2014. He died instantly due to the injuries to his head. The subsequent action of the Army troops surrounding the area immediately and search resulted in finding a T 56 weapon hidden in a thicket approximately 350 meters away from the incident on the following day. Sniffer dogs of the Police and the Army tracked scent and trails from the position of the weapon to a house of a suspect in Ganeshapuram Village and that led the Police to arrest a total of four suspects. Further inquiries are being carried out by the Police. At the request of the immediate family and friends of Sabarathnam Naguleshwaran, the Army continued to provide all possible assistance by providing meals and refreshments to the family and visitors, erection of tents, preparations of the funeral site and transportation of the remains of Sabarathnam Naguleshwaran with family members from Anuradapura after the postmortem.
