SECURITY FORCE HQ KILINOCHCHI CELEBRATED THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY WITH MILITARY TRADITIONS GIVING PRIORITY TO RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCES
With the termination of 30 year brutal war, Security Force HeadquartersKilinochchi was established on 29 June 2009 at Iranamadu Tank – Kilinochchi in order to ensure the Security of the area, execution of the 5R and to maintain the long lasting peace in Northern Province. On 29 June 2014, SF HQ (KLN) splendidly celebrated the 5thanniversary with traditional military customs and norms giving priority to religious observances with the participation of officers, other rankers and civil employees.
Commencing series of religious activitieson 26 June 2014, troops attended a KovilPooja at KanakambhikkayPaththiniDewala- Iranamadu, Islamic prayers at Jumuah mosque -Kilinochchi and a mass at St’ Theresa’s Church at Kilinochchitransferring merits to the members of the security forces, policeand civilians who sacrificed their lives to ensure the sovereignty of the country defeating the crucial terrorism, wishing the speedy recovery for wounded and disabled soldiers andtheir family members and invoking blessings to all serving officers, men, civilianemployees and their family members .In par with the celebration, all night Pirith was chanted by 20Theros from Atamasthana, Anuradhapura on 28 June 2014and Heel DanamayaPinkama(cold almsgiving meritorious act) for the casket and 20 Theroswasheld in the following day morning with the presence of Commander SF(KLN).
In addition to religious ceremonies blood donation campaigns were carried out with the collaboration of Army Hospital Kilinochchi. Keeping with the traditions a guard turn out and a guard of honour was also offered to the Commander SF (KLN) fallowed up with a tree planting, all ranks’ lunch and an evening musical show.
