66 Division troops serving under Security Force- Kilinochchi in collaboration with the staff at Poonaryn Government Hospital carried out a Shramadana, self-help project to clean the hospital premises on 14 January 2018, coincident with Thai Pongal fiesta season. General Officer Commanding, 66 Division – Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana mastermind of the said social aid programme.
A large number of soldiers in 661 Brigade and 66 Division Headquarters joined hands together with hospital staff. During the shramadana, troops cleaned the hospital premises while planting the herbal saplings.
At the end of the shramadana, Troops provided refreshment and lunch to the patients who have been admitted to the Pooneryn Hospital. This friendly move was initiated by the General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, and Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana in close cooperation with hospital authorities.
