‘ARULAMMA’ CHILDREN DEVELOPMENT CENTRE RENOVATED BY SECURITY FORCE TROOPS WAS DECLARED OPEN AT METHODIST CHURCH ‘NAVAJEEVANAM’ MURASUMODDAI

‘Arulamma’ children Development Centre which was inaugurated in 1955 as a charity organization under the patronage of Methodist Church Sri Lanka for poor children was damaged during three decades of long conflict. The damaged main hall of the Children Development Centre was completely renovated by the troops from Security Force Kilinochchi and declared open on 16 December 2019 at the premises of the Methodist Church Navajeevanam - Murasumoddai.

The farsighted project was instigated by Major General G V Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG, Commander Security Force (Kilinochchi) after discussion with Church authority. Later, the project was constructed with the financial assistance from Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka.

The opening ceremony was held with a simple formalities. Very Rev. Asiri P Perera the Bishop of the Methodist church of Sri Lanka participated and conducted religious rituals. Deputy Defence Attache Colonel Chang Qiannjin unveiled the symbolic opening plaque on behalf of the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China. General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General B P S de Silva RSP represented military as the Chief Guest.

Students of ‘Navajeevnam’ Methodist Church performed a dancing act during the ceremony. Further, 35 students were gifted with valuable stationary pack which was organized by Commander Security Force Kilinochhci Major General G V Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG. Seven computers with all accessories were also donated to ‘Arulamma’ Children Development Centre. Rev. Arun Pushparaj of ‘Navajeevanam’ Methodist Church offered several tokens of appreciation for Military personnel who have been toiled hard for the construction. Rev. Terence Sylvester - Chairman of North and East Methodist Church, Mr. Kurukularasa (former Provincial Council Minister), Colonel U L J S Perera RSP USP psc - Commander 573 Brigade were also participated along with all Brigade Commanders of 57 Division, many senior military officers, students and their parents.
