TROOPS OF 66 INFANTRY DIVISION CAPTURED A LARGE AMOUNT OF SMUGGLED DRUGS

The 4th Battalion Military Intelligence troops attached to 66 Infantry Division along with troops of 20 SLLI have arrested a consignment of approximately 144 Kilograms of Kerala Ganja (KG) in general area Seethakudiyirrippu, Poonaryn. The consignment has been brought along the lagoon in a Fiberglass Fishing Boat to the area Seethakudiyirippu and was attempting to load into a single cab (Mahendra Bolero) for further transportation. The troops have arrested approximately 89 Kilograms of KG packed into 66 waterproof parcels and laden on board to the boat at the time of arrest along with a can of approximately 30 Liters of illicit liquor.

On the instructions of the General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division, Major General Ajith Dissanayake, the troops of 66 Infantry Division, those who made the arrest, have handed over the consignment of KG, one can with illegally produced liquor, one fishing boat, one single cab along with one suspect to the Poonaryn Police station for the further investigations.

As per the directions given by the, Chief of Defence Staff, the Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva and close supervision and instruction of the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, deployed troops in the Kilinochchi throwing their full weight behind the government's ‘All-out War Against Narcotics’.
