SRI LANKA ARMY INTER REGIMENT WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP - 2015
The 12th Inter Regiment Wrestling Championship Tournament was organized under the supervision and directions of Maj Gen S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc Commander, Security Force (KLN) and Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Wrestling Association at \"Nelum Piyasa\" in Kilinochchi from 25 August 2015 to 28 August 2015. This was the second Inter Regiment Wrestling Championship Tournament held in the North.\r\n\r\nThe tournament was participated by teams representing 10 Regiments. The bouts were conducted as per rules and regulations of Sri Lanka Wrestling and FILA (International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles) both in male and female weight categories.\r\n\r\n86 wrestlers in male and 20 wrestlers in female totaling 116 wrestlers took part in 18weight categories in championship bouts. Jude panel consist with 9 referees/judges and Sri Lanka Army Wrestling Association conducted this most successful tournament. \r\n\r\nThe finals of the tournament was held on 28 August 2015 at \"Nelum Piyasa\" in Kilinochchi with Maj Gen HCP Goonetilleke RSP USP ndc psc, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Forces and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Large number of trophies, medals and awards were distributed amongst the wrestlers by the Chief Guest, Chairman, Army Wrestling and other invitees. \r\n\r\nSLEME clinched the championship while SLSR became runner up . 6 (V) SLAWC emerge as champion in the female category. Craftsmen Chathuranga Y P S of 9 SLEME was adjudged as the Best Wrestler while Pte Niroshini S P S of 6 (V) SLAWC clinching the award for the Best Female Wrestler. Pte Senavirathne ACMSK of 9 VIR Was adjudged as the Best Looser while Pte Samanthilake WDGIM of 5 (V)SLAWC clinching the award for Best Female Looser of the tournament.\r\n
