SOLDIERS WHO RESCUED DROWNING MOTHER & HER TWO CHILDREN IN ARASAPURAKULAM TANK WERE APPRECIATED BY COMMANDER SFHQ KILINOCHCHI

Timely intervention of two soldiers of 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment serving the 66 Division under the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi rescued drowning mother and her two children while they were bathing in the Arasapurakulam tank in Arasapurakulam on 7 September 2019.

With difficulty, those brave soldiers, L/Cpl Amarasiri D.G.S and L/Cpl Ariyarathne T.G.J.P managed to rescue all three of them and rushed them to the closest Pooneryn Hospital with the help of civilians who assembled there.

To sodliers who rescued them whilst riscking their own life were appreciated by their commander, Major General G V Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG On 16 September 2019 at his office. 5 MIR (V) Commanding Officer Major M A W H Kumara USP also was present.
