SECURITY FORCES KILINOCHCHI CELEBRATES POSON FESTIVAL WITH KILINOCHCHI COMMUNITY

Poson full moon poya day celebrates the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BC, a festival of great historical and religious significance celebrated island- wide by Buddhist. Poson is held on the full moon poya day of June, commemorates the occasion over 2000 years ago when Arahat Mahinda son of Emperor Ashok of India, converted King Devanampiyathissa to Buddhism. \r\n In order to celebrate \"Poson Poya Day\", Sheela Campaign named as\" Viru Hadata Budu Sisila\" ( Relief by Lord Buddha to Soldiers minds) was conducted by Saddham Arya Padanama on 02 June 2015 at Nelum Piyasa, Kilinochchi. Rev.Manadaram Nuwara Sumana Vishuddi thero, Rev. Mahanagapura Amitha Thero, Rev.Akurassse Sobitha Thero and Rev. Hinimunne Sunanda Thero conducted this relegoius event for approximately 350 of devotees.\r\n With the coordination of Kilinochchi Hospital, Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi conducted a Blood donation programme on same day at Security Force Headquarters permises with participation of large no of Army persons and conducted \"Dansala\" in front of Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi.\r\n With the intention of strengthening and mutual understanding among all communities in Kilinochchi area, Security Forces Kilinochchi troops organized a \"Poson \" at Kilinochchi Central School ground on 02 June 2015 to mark Poson Poya day. Poson Zone consists with \"Dansala\" and \"Poson Lanterns\" which were colorfully created by Army troops. A Large gathering of civilians participated and enjoyed the generosity offered by the troops and also they were interested in watching lanterns appreciating this valuable religious event.\r\n Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large gathering, including General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Army Officers and State Officials and civilians attended this occasion.\r\n
