The 10,000 m road run, the much-awaited second endurance testing event for troops of 57 Division, was successfully conducted on 17 Oct 17. This event was initiated to enhance the Will power, Determination and to maintain the Physical Efficiency of troops of 57 Division. ‘The 10,000 m road run’ was organized by Commander 572 Brigade, Colonel LPKC Wijetunga RWP RSP USP under the direction of General Officer Commanding 57 Division Major General HJS Gunawardena RSP USP ndc psc.\r\n\r\nIt was the second 10,000 m road race conducted by the 57 Division.Over 125 athletes took part in the first race and 230 athletes took part in the second race from Divisional Headquarters, Brigade Headquarters and under command Battalions of 57 Division. The race commenced from 10th km post (OLUMADU) of the A 34 and terminated at MANKULAM junction. A huge competition among individual athletes and the groups were observed during the whole races. S/324989 L/Cpl Manatunga GSP of 7th Sri Lanka Light Infantry comes first and 9th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment became the overall team champions. The certificates were awarded for first 5 athletes and for the team champions.
