OUT GOING COMMANDER OF THE ARMY VISITS SECURITY FORCE KILINOCHCHI
Commander of the Army General Jagath Jayasuriya made a visit to Security Force Kilinochchi on 12 July. His visit was symbolic due to number of reasons. General Jagath Jayasuriya made history being the first ever Four Star General and the serving Commander of the Army to visit Security Force Kilinochchi. The troops of 3rd Gajaba Battalion serving under 574 Brigade presented a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour in welcoming the Commander of the Army. The outgoing Commander of the Army addressed the troops and stated that he expect all the troops to serve better under the leadership of incoming Commander of the Army Lieutenant General RMD Ratnayake RWP RSP USP ndu psc, thus informed that he will be taking over duties as the Chief of the Defence Staff from August 1.
In commemoration of his visit, memento was presented to the outgoing Commander of the Army by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander Security Force Kilinochchi to mark the visit of the Commander of the Army to Security Force Kilinochchi, his promotion to the rank of a Four Star General and wishing him all the success in his new appointment as the Chief of Defence Staff.
General Jagath Jayasuriya whilst expressing his satisfaction over his new promotion to the rank of a Four Star General whilst being the youngest Commander of the Army presented a plaque to the Commander Security Force Kilinochchi to symbolize his final visit as the Commander of the Army.
