National Wrestling Tournament of the 40th National Games was held at Nuwara Eliya Public Grounds on 14 and 15 June 2014. Competitions were held on 11 weight categories where 15 male competitors from Sri Lanka Army took part representing their respective districts.
Sri Lanka Army wrestlers showing their class, guts and stamina won 5 gold medals, 4 silver and 4 bronze in their respective weight classes. L/Cpl Somarathna H L C of Sri Lanka Army was adjudged as the “Best Wrestler†in the tournament.
Champion Sri Lanka Army Wrestlers were felicitated by the Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Wrestling Association, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe at Security Force HQ Kilinochchi.
