People of Mulankavil received two worthy gifts on 12 February 2013 eradicating prolong existed difficulties for general public. MP Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeygunawardana and MP Mr. Namal Rajapaksha declared open the CEB power supply at Mulankavil and Mulankavil hospital. The national electricity grid illuminated the Mulankavil area for the first time. The construction of the hospital was coordinated by US Pacific Command with the funding by USAID and was a goodwill gift from People of USA to People of Sri Lanka. The hospital consists of two male and female wards and an Out Door Patient Department. Two MPs, Deputy Chief of Mission for US embassy Sri Lanka and Maldives Mr. William Weinstein, military officials from US embassy, Kilinochchi GA Mrs R Kethishwaran, doctors and other medical staff and military/Police officials attended the event. The Deputy Chief of Mission in his short address to the gathering commended the Sri Lanka Army contribution in identifying the geographical areas for projects and the assistance extended to begin the construction of the hospital.
