LONG - FELT NEED FOR AGRO WELL FULFILLED BY SILVERMILL GROUPS
Intending to publicize the farming of coconut in Pooneryn and provide an income for needy people, a large stock of coconut seedlings were distributed among low-income groups in Pooneryn area recently, as per the guidelines of General Officer Commanding - 66 Division, Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana RSP ndu psc. Further, the technical assistance, comprised of seedlings, fertilizer, construction of agricultural wells, erection of protective fences, supportive materials, etc to the value of Rs. 2 million, needed for healthy growth of those seedlings were provided by Silvermill Group, Giriulla. \r\n\r\nAs the second stage of the said project, an agrarian well which is in a size of 22 ft of depth and 12 ft of diameter was constructed in the demonstrative Coconut Plot that is located at Battalion Training School – Arasapurakulam on 15 November 2017. The said agrarian well was dug with the financial assistance worth of Rs.150000.00 that was provided by Silver Mills. The said agrarian well was opened in the presence of a gathering of Army Officers, including Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana and Representatives from Silvermill groups. The project was received the blessings of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi.
