Under the guidance of Major General B P S de Silva RSP, the General Officer Commanding 57 Division, the troops of 57 Division organized religious rituals at Kilinochchi Kandasami Kovil to celebrate the Thaipongal Day at 0830 hour on 15 January 2020. This was organized with the aim of strengthening the reconciliation efforts between the Sri Lanka Army soldiers and civilians in the area of responsibility. General Officer Commanding 57 Division graced the occasion and Commanders of 571, 572 and 574 Brigades participated in the event along with Division staff and other Officers in AOR. Around 150 soldiers participated in the rituals along with over 100 of civilians in Kilinochchi area.
Meanwhile, under the guidance of Major General K A W Kumarapperuma USP, 651 & 652 Brigade troops of the 65 Division offered snacks and refreshments to the pilgrims who attended a prayer session at Vellankulam Pullayar Kovil and Naga Amman Kovil on 15 January 2020.
