A large vesak pandol was exhibited from 14 may 1014 to 16 may 2014 at the playground of Kilinochchi central college in order to celebrate 2558 Sambudddha Jayanthiya. It displays the biography of Ashoka in a large pandol of 33 ft height and 30 ft width with approximate 25000 bulbs for decoration. All the soldiers who serve in Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi contributed their maximum effort for this pandol. It was constructed with the technical support of 11 Sri Lanka engineers and the donations of well-wisher and the all troops who are under command to Security Force Kilinochchi.
A rice dansal, ice cream dansal and bhakthi geetha and vesak lanterns competition were held on the inauguration day of this vesak pandol. The remarkable event is playing the story of the pandol; biography of Ashoka in Tamil for the first time in kilinochchi and distributing vesak card printed in Tamil. A special technical room was established behind the pandol to make the visitors aware about the function of bulbs in the pandol.
There were 46 colorful vesak lanterns made from the exhibition around the pandol. 11(v) GR obtained the first place among all these vesak lanterns and they were awared rs.20000.00 as the prize. Second place was 5 SLMP and third place was Sri Lanka air force and they were awarded Rs, 15000.00 and Rs 10000.00 respectively as prizes by commander security force kilinochchi. Consoledence of Rs, 2500.00 was bestowed 7 SLLI, 19 SLLI, 9 VIR, 17(V) GR, 6 SLNG, 7 SLNG and Arma cord (Kilinochchi).
Further it was a significant event in Klinochchi History as a huge crowd of civilians including students visited this vesak kalpaya and more than 7000 civilians visited it every day. They ware facilitated with dinner and ice cream as the dessert from the dansals.
