KILINOCHCHI VESAK PANDAL IN ANURADHAPURA FOR POSON
The beautiful Vesak pandal consisted of 30,000 bulbs erected in Kilinochchi is now in place for general public in Anuradhapura, Srawathipura Sri Nagaviharaya temple. The theme of the pandal is based on the ideology embraced by Emperor Ashoka the great of India. Emperor Ashoka whole heartedly rejected violence and war thus embracing Buddhism gradually after witnessing the destruction, bitterness, pain and sorrow it caused on humanity. The pandal was erected on a request made to Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Udaya Perera by Most Venerable Dr. Welamitiyawe Kusaladharma thero, Chancellor University of Kelaniya, Chief incumbent Peliyagoda Vidyalankara Pirivena and President All Island Buddhist Federation. The event included Poson Bhakthi Gee Prsangaya performed by soldiers from Kilinochchi and a Control room open for general public to witness the electrical and mechanical function of the pandal. HE The President Mahinda Rajapaksha declared open the pandal on 23 June 2013.
