KILINOCHCHI TROOPS LEADS TO PREVENT ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

Security Force (Kilinochchi) troops reported the highest number of cases filed relating to illegal liquor production, sand mining and illegal logging and drugs trafficking. The troops have prevented 28 cases from 01 Mar 2021 to 21 Apr 2021 and seized 48 cubes of sand, 8815 Liters of Goda for using brewing illicit liquor, 35 Liters distilled illicit liquor, hundred number of excavating equipment, 185.035 Kg of Smuggled Cannabis, 100 of Satinwood and Palu timber and 60 illegal capsules with arrested more than 40 suspected person.

The anti-social activities such as illicit drug trafficking, sand mining, timber felling has been increased and Army troops involved with the matter in order to response and prevent above activities to maintaining better living conditions of the civilians of the SFHQ KLN area. It has been revealed that due to various type of anti-social activities in the area, family disputes, murders, suicides caused by illicit drugs, liquor and curbing large-scale environmental disasters which caused disturbing the balance of nature.

During the last couple of month in this year in the Kilinochchi Army troops have been more active in detecting smuggled Cannabis, drugs illicit liquor and sand mining as per directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and close supervision and instruction of Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe.

Commander SF KLN instructed ground troops to take maximum preventive measures to avoid these illegal activities. Further informed to continue the monitoring process on suspected persons and instructed to get the assistance of all available resources and employment of more troops while coordinating with SL police, Department of Wildlife Conservation, Department of Forest Conservation, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Excise Department Of Sri Lanka and other relevant authorities. The troops in the Kilinochchi area throwing their full weight behind the government's all-out war against narcotics, drugs, illicit liquor, sand mining and smuggling of contraband have in the past recovered drugs, and other contraband from Kilinochchi and elsewhere.
