KILINOCHCHI TROOPS INITIATE DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL ACCESSORIES TO LOW INCOME CHILDREN IN KILINOCHCHI
Troops of the Security Forces Headquarters – Kilinochchi organized a school stationery donation campaign with simple ceremony held at Nelum Piyasa auditorium on 30 May 2017.\r\n\r\nThe donation of school stationery worth Rs.350,000.00 was made by Foundation of Goodness in response to a request made by the Major General Ajith Kariyakarawanna Commander, Security Forces – kilinochchi.\r\n\r\n100 students of low – income groups from Kilinochchi, Mallavi, Poonaryn and Vishuamadu were the recipients of those incentives. The donation containing with school bags, exercise books, water bottles and other essential stationery items. Meanwhile, the donors gifted worth of Rs. 1000 vouchers for the purchasing to school shoes to the same school children during the ceremony. \r\n\r\nMajor General Ajith Kariyakarawana Commander Security Forces – kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with Mr. Ananda Jayawardena Operational Manager from Foundation of Goodness.\r\n\r\nMajor General Jagath Gunawardena, General Officer Commanding – 57 Division, Senior Military Officers, principals, teachers, parents, students and serving troops attended the event.\r\n\r\nAll the attendant students in the ceremony were entertained to special packets of refreshments offered by 8th Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment towards the end of the day’s event. \r\n
