KILINOCHCHI TROOPS ENGAGED WITH POSON CELEBRATION

For Buddhists, this hallowed day of Poson is second only to Vesak in terms of importance. Although Poson is celebrated throughout the island, 66 Division and 573 Brigade celebrated Poson day with many religious activities in their respective areas on 02 June 2015 with the participation of the civil community in Kilinochchi.\r\n\r\nUnder the guidance of General Officer Commanding 66 Division, troops has organized Bodhi Pooja to mark Poson Poya Day and also conducted \"Dansala\" and \"Poson Lanterns\" in Poonaryn area. A Large gathering of civilians participated and enjoyed the free eaterly offered by the troops and also they interested in watching lanterns appreciating this valuable religious event. In addition, \" Mahindagamanaya\" film was screened with Tamil subtitle to the civil community at Poonaryn Town with the intention of familiarizing Tamils with Buddhism and significance of Poson Poya day. \r\n\r\nGeneral Officer Commanding 66 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large gathering including Additional Divisional Secretary - Poonaryn, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Civil state officers, Police Officers and civilians attended the event.\r\n\r\nMeanwhile 573 Brigade also organized \"Bodhi Pooja\" with the participation of troops from Brigade and under command Battalions to invoke blessings on fallen war heroes and serving army personnel. On the same day 573 Brigade conducted \"Osu Pan Dansala\" at Kilinochchi area. \r\n
