In response to a request made by Major General G V Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG, Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi, the Association of Ophthalmic Opticians of Subhuthipura - Battharamulla donated a stock of spectacles to the needy people in Kilinochchi District during an Eye Clinic organized by the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi at the Nelumpiyasa auditorium premises, on 14 September 2019.
The community oriented arrangement, organized with 88 members of the medical staff from Association of Ophthalmic Opticians from all over the country led by Dr.Ramani Kabral , following guidance given by Brigadier General Staff of SFHQ KLN, Brigadier P M L Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP and Brigadier Admin and Quartering of SFHQ KLN, Brigadier HMHN Herath.
The brief ceremony followed an eye clinic which selected 282 visually impaired people out of 372 patients who came for clinic. Meantime 250 Army personals also were benefitted by the program.
The Association of Ophthalmic Opticians expects to facilitate arrangements to undergo a cataract surgery if required at the Government Hospital Kilinochchi. This was the first time in history of Kilinochchi area which people were able to get a pair of spectacles with are professionally made on the spot.
Senior Officers, Civil Affairs Officers, Officers, Other Ranks of the SFHQ KLN AOR and 11 Directors,15 opticians,15 Technicians and 47 Members of Association of Ophthalmic Opticians attended the inaugural occasion.
