KILINOCHCHI IS DECORATED AND ILLUMINATED FOR VESAK
The colorful festival of Vesak commemorates the three significant events that took place in Lord Buddha’s life; his birth, enlightenment and demise and is celebrated in a grand way in Sri Lanka during the month of May. The streets in Kilinochchi too endowed with sparkling lights, beautiful lanterns and colorful pandols.
There are two major dansalas (stalls where food is provided free to devotees) and a massive pandal (thorana) organized in Kilinochchi area. In addition to that bhakthi gee (songs of devotion) to be sung. Now Kilinochchi is in the stance be celebrate its post-war Vesak festival in grand style over the three-day long weekend.
