The Army has been successful in containing the epidemic to a greater extent with utmost commitment and dedication during the worst period while working according to a well-designed strategic plan. Direction is given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to establish Intermediate care centres in each security forces areas for treat COVID-19 positive patients. According to the instructions and close supervision of Commander Security Force Kilinochchi and District Coordinating Officer for COVID-19 outbreak of Kilinochchi Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, improvise quarantine centres in Barathipuram, Murukkandi to intermediate care centres in keeping with the government's emergency project in the event of any mass scale admissions.
Commander Security Force Kilinochchi visited to inspect the improvements of the ICC, on 04 May 2021 and instructed to complete developments within a short period.
General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Commander 571 Brigade Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, Colonel General Staff of SFHQ KLN and other senior Officers of Army Base Hospital in SFHQ KLN, participated to the visit.
