INTERMEDIATE CARE CENTRE IN KILINOCHCHI IS READY TO FACE ANY EMERGENCY SITUATION

To respond the emergence of new positive cases of COVID - 19 outbreaks, troops in Security Force Kilinochchi converted Barathipuram Quarantine Centre to Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) with in Short span for isolation of infectees.

As per the direction given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army to establish ICC for treating COVID-19 positive patients, this was initiated with the instruction of Major General Harendra Ranasinghe the Commander Security Force Kilinochchi to provide a coordinated response to the present 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthening the capacity of the health care system.

Commander Security Force Kilinochchi made an observation tour in order to inspect the improvised ICC on 06 May 2021 which has started operations today onwards. During the visit, he inquired into their needs and had a chat with the medical staff as regards its operational and supporting roles.

Regional Director of Health Services Dr. RN Sarvanabawan, Director of District General Hospital Kilinochchi Dr. Sugandan, General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Commander 571 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, Colonel General Staff of SFHQ (KLN) and other senior officers of Army Base Hospital in SFHQ (KLN) participated to the event.
