IMPLEMENTATION OF SERIES OF EVENTS FOR SPORTS AND PHYSICAL FITNESS PROMOTION WEEK

Government of Sri Lanka has declared as the \'National Sport and Physical Fitness Week\' from 25 January to 30 January, with a view to control Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) which are the leading cause of death in Sri Lanka.\r\n\r\nThe programme is being initiated on the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena to introduce healthy living through sports and physical training as well as to popularize sports among the people so as to create a sports culture within the country. Hence, Sri Lanka Army has launched various physical training programmes in island wide.\r\n\r\nAs per the direction of Comd SF (KLN) healthy walk, following large number of gathering representing of government departments, civil organizations, members of tri services and police were attended to the event which was organized by 57 division.\r\n\r\n\r\nSri Lanka Army - 339\r\n\r\nSri Lanka Air Force - 11\r\n\r\nSri Lanka Police - 50\r\n\r\nCSD - 25\r\n\r\nSTF - 25\r\n\r\nDistrict/Divisional Offices - 50\r\n\r\nRDHS/ Kilinochchi Hospital - 35\r\n\r\nYouth Council - 30\r\n\r\nNAITA Students - 25\r\n\r\nCivil Sports Teams - 60\r\n\r\nCivilian Youths - 100\r\n\r\nTotal - 750\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSeries of friendly cricket, volleyball and soccer matches organized by 65, 66 Divs, FMA (KLN) respectively to symbolize the National Sports and Physical Fitness Week with participation of large no of members of Tri Services, Police, Community organizations and many civilians were participated for said events.\r\n
