HASALAKA WAR HERO, CPL GAMINI KULARATNE REMEMBERED AND RESPECTED ON HIS 29TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY

The 29th Death Anniversary of one of the most remembered war heroes in contemporary times, late Corporal Gamini Kularatne of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment who paid the supreme sacrifice on 14 July 1991 to prevent an enemy bulldozer ramming into the Elephant Pass garrison was scheduled to be held on 14 July 2020 was postponed due to the COVID 19 Pandemic situation in the country. To encourage the military troops and to highlight the importance of respecting war heroes, commemorating ceremony held on Monday, 24 August 2020 at the monumental Gamini Kularatne’s memorial in Elephant Pass.

The commemoration ceremony was organized by the 662 Brigade under the direction of the General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division, Major General TJ Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu and close supervision of the Commander 662 Brigade Brigadier PR Pathiravithana psc. The Officers and Other Ranks of 66 Infantry Division attended to the event.

Major General KNS Kotuwegoda ndc IG, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the Memorial ceremony and set light to the eternal lamp near the statue and revered the heroic memory by placing a floral wreath at the foot. General Officer Commanding 66 Division and Senior Officers paid their respects to the monument by placing floral wreaths.
