The newly constructed monument of Coporal Gamini Kularathna constructed by 66 division under the supervision of Brigadier AMR Dharmasiri psc, General Officer Commanding 66 Division was declared opened by Major General GVDUA Perera RWP RSP USP USAWC psc, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi at a proud ceremony held on 2 January 2014. Mrs YG Juliet, mother of Coporal Gamini Kularathna, family members, Mrs. Thelma Perera and a large gathering of officers and men were also present. Floral tribute was also paid to this great hero. The mother and family members expressed their heartfelt gratitude with tears in their eyes for constructing this monument in honour of her beloved son who sacrificed his life to save the Elephantpass camp by disrupting the advance of armoured LTTE buldozer in 13 July 1991.
