GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF 66 INFANTRY DIVISION RELINQUISHES HIS DUTIES

Brigadier Deepthi Jayathilake, the 6th General Officer Commanding of 66 Infantry Division, relinquished his duties on Sunday, 13 January 2019 and will be take over duties as General Officer Commanding - 12 Division.

This terminated his second tenure and it dragged up to ten months as the GOC in 66 Division, Pooneryn where he gave his leadership in development and welfare of soldiers in the division while conducting a number of community-related projects in his capacity. In appreciation of his invaluable contribution for the betterment this area of responsibility, a sequence of felicitation events took place with the patronage of the Officers and Other Ranks of the Headquarters 66 Infantry Division and it’s under command formations. The felicitation ceremony was comprised with a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honor from 24 Vijayaba Infantry Regiment, an all ranks tea and a troop address.

The Farewell dinner was organized by the Officers’ Mess and it incorporated an awarding of memento as a token of appreciation for his invaluable and dedicated service rendered as the General Officer Commanding. Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and Officers of under command brigades and battalions were present to bid the farewell for him.
