S/2004VFRD80469 Recruit Ajantha Prasad who was undergoing basic training at 7SLAWC passed away at 2300 hrs on 14 Aug 14 at General Hospital Jaffna.
Recruit Ajantha Prasad was a native of Kilinochchi who joined the Sri Lanka Army on 22 May 2014. Ajantha, fifthof a family of six completed her primary education at Thirumurukkandi Hindu Vidyalaya. Her mother along with rest of the family is living in Selvapuram, Thirumurukkandy and it was revealed that her untimely death was due to a cancer.
Her funeral was organized in Kilinochchi with full Military Honours. This funeral Number1 was the first ever military funeral to be held in Kilinochchi. The Funeral took place at 1600 hrs on 15 August 14 at Thirumurukkandi General Cemetery with the participation of large gathering including Senior Officers, Other Ranks and a flow of civilians.
