DONATION OF SCHOOL BOOK PACKS AND MATERIALS FOR POOR STUDENTS

Under the guidance of GOC 66 Division, Major General M D Wijesundara RSP, 662 Brigade launched a donation programme of school books and other accessories to poor school students at Umayalapuram primary school, Paranthan on 21 November 2019 under the close supervision and direction of Brigade commander, 662 Brigade Colonel PR Pathirawithana psc.

36 students in the school (Grade 1-5) were the beneficiaries of the donations which included book packs, school bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, books, papers and other stationeries

The donations were sponsored by the Rotary Club in Colombo Fort. Four members of the Rotary Club including President attended the event. 10 x Officers and 25 x Soldiers including 662 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer of 20 SLLI, parents, teachers and students were also present.

Meanwhile, the day prior to the donation on 20 November 2019, a Shramadana Campaign was conducted by the troops and parents at the same School
