Troops of 17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry disinfected the entire township of Mallavi and Thunukkai on 26 March 2020 in collaboration with staff of Divisional Secretariat by spraying anti-virus and bacteria chemicals during curfew hours, in order to control the further transmission of the virus within the area. This programme was launched with the directions of the Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General HMJK Gunaratne WWV RWP RSP ndc psc and under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 65 Division, Major General DMHD Bandara RWP RSP USP.
All populous locations in Mallavi and Thunukkai town areas, inclusive of bus stands, Government banks and ATM machines were disinfected during the programme.
