CORDON AND SEARCH OPERATION CONDUCTED BY 20 SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY TROOPS OF 66 INFANTRY DIVISION

20 SLLI troops of the 66 Infantry Division conducted a Cordon and Search operation covering Housing Complex of consisting 65 house at Mukkappan- Poonaryn. The operation launched at 1205 hr on Tuesday, 07 May 2019 with the assistance of Pooneryn Police. Following items were recovered 08 x Weapon Butts, 01 x Locally made Shot Gun, 01 x Shot Gun Barrel, 01 x 120 mm Mortar Fuse (Unserviceable), 01 x RPG HE Bomb, 15 x T 56 Ammunitions and 01 x Empty Case ( Unserviceable), 50g of Low Explosive, 01 x Improvised Electric Charger, 02 x Crackers, 02 x Swords, 01 x Part of Iron bar, 01 x Improvised bicycle sprocket wheel which is fixed to a handle, 09 x Box of Matches, Led Tussles (Used for fishing nets), 01 x Pile (Using to sharpen the equipment), 02 x Drilling Needles, 01 x Hand Saw, 02 x Led bars (Length of 2 inches), 01 x Honda Passion Mortar Bicycle (NP ME – 3632) and 01 x ETEL Mobile Phone. one suspect named Udaya Sorowuppan Umadudhan was arrested by the Pooneryn Police.

The search was conducted on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division, Brigadier M D Wijesundara RSP and under the guidance of Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi, Major General GV Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG.
