The 30th Commemoration ceremony of the frequently remembered war hero late Corporal Gamini Kularatne PWV of 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment was held on 14th July 2021 at Elephant Pass Gamini Kularatne memorial. He paid the supreme sacrifice on 14 July 1991 whilst destroying an enemy explosive laiden dozer breaking into the Elephant Pass Garrison.
The Commemoration Ceremony was organized by the 662 Infantry Brigade under the direction of the General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division, Major General Ajith Dissanayaka and close supervision of Commander 662 Infantry Brigade Colonel Chaminda Liyanage.
The Commander Security forces- Wanni and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Major General Hemantha Bandara graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and paid his tribute to the war hero by lighting the flame and payed floral tribute. The General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division Major General Ajith Dissanayaka, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division Major General Deepal Pussella, General Officer Commanding, 57 Infantry Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, and Senior Officers paid their respect by placing floral wreaths. Moreover, this event was conducted by adhering all the Covid 19 preventive measures.
