COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES KILINOCHCHI GRACES THE CEREMONY OF LAYING FOUNDATION STONE FOR INFORMATION CENTER AT KOKAVIL WAR FALLEN HERO MONUMENT
Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi graced the foundation laying ceremony of the Information Center at Kokavil War Fallen Hero Monument premises on 13 January 2017. The Information Center at Kokavil War Fallen Hero Monument premises will be established to gain information to the Sri Lankan and Foreign visitors about the battle at Kokavil 11 June 1990.\r\nCaptain Saliya Upul Aladeniya, PWV, SLRS was Sri Lankan soldier and the second recipient of the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, highest war time award for valor of Sri Lanka. He was commanding the small army detachment at Kokavil, when it was surrounded he refused to abandon the injured and fought until they were overrun by LTTE on 11 June 1990.\r\nAmidst the religious observances, Commander Security Forces - Kilinochchi symbolically laid foundation stones for Information Center. Brigadier Dammika Kariyawasam USP Lsc, Commander - Forward Maintenance Area, Brigadier Athula Galagamage, General Officer Commanding - 57 Division, Brigadier Vijith Subasinghe RSP USP, Commander 573 Brigade, Officers and Other Ranks were present at the occasion.\r\n
