Lieutenant General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander of the Army visited Security Forces Kilinochchi on Friday 18th October 2019. This is his first visit to Kilinochchi after assuming the office as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
The Commander of the Army was received by Major General GV Ravipriya WWV RWP ndu IG, Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi and the Senior Staff Officers at the Security Forces Headquarters Kilinochchi.
A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour were presented to the Commander of the Army by the troops of 3rd Gajaba Regiment as military formalities. Subsequently, the Commander of the Army handed over land releasing certificates of 150.15 acres occupied by SL Army in Karachchi and Oddusuddan areas in Northern Province to Mr. S. Arumainayaham, District Secretary of Kilinochchi and Mr. T Akilan, Divisional Secretary of Oddusuddan.
Further, the Commander of the Army donated electric items, construction tools and other essential equipment to uplift their living standards such as solar panels, water filters, rice cockers, irons, vacuum flask, welding plant, grinder machines, electric drills, push bicycles and wheel chairs among 15 x Ex combatant’s families and 20 x students were received savings account books & School Accessories.
Thereafter, he posed for a group photograph and planted a sapling in the camp premises to mark his visit. Later, the Commander of the Army addressed all Officers and Other Ranks of Security Forces Kilinochchi in separate venues and followed by a tea with Other Ranks at Nelumpiyasa auditorium.
Before his departure he added a complimentary remark in the Visitors' Book to mark his visit.
