A BRANCH OF JAYA SRI MAHA BODHI WAS PLANTED IN SFHQ (KLN)

Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is a sacred tree in Mahamewna Gardens, Anuradhapura. It is said to be the right – wing branch from the historical Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi at Buddha Gaya in India under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Today it is one of the most sacred relics of the Buddhists in Sri Lanka and respected by Buddhists all over the world.\r\n\r\n A branch of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi was planted in Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi under the religious observation on 02 January 2016. This invaluable religious programme was arranged under the direction of Maj Gen Amal Karunasekara, Commander, Security Force - Kilinochchi.\r\n\r\n The sacred tree was brought to the headquarters premises by a colourful procession including many other traditional items. With the invitation of SFHQ (KLN), meritorious act was conducted by Ven. Higurakande Sumana Thero, Chief Prelate of the Mankulam Viharaya, Kilinochchi. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from SFHQ (KLN) and under command battalions attended the event.\r\n
