A series of lectures were conducted on Forest Management on 19, 20 and 21 of April 2015 at the village of Teligarey area of 5(V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment under 661 Brigade. As it was identified as timely requirement, this programme was organized on the direction of General Commanding Officer - 66 Division with the cooperation of Mr. Thanigasam, Forest Officer of Forest Conservation Office - Poonaryn. \r\n\r\n\r\nProfessor K Karunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya conducted a lecture on Forest Management for all three days. It was focused on the consequences of illegal timber felling, sand mining and clearing jungle patches in order to educate villagers to conserve natural resources for future generation.\r\n\r\nBrigade Commander of 661 Brigade, Senior Superintendant of Police - Poonaryn, Officer In Charge - Poonaryn Police Station, Civil Coordination Officer - 66 Division, approximately 20 officers of Forest Conservation Department and 350 villagers were present for the programme.\r\n
