AWARENESS PROGRAMME OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Research shows that more than 80 per cent of Sri Lankan women and girls are subject to domestic violence. The Sri Lanka National Human Development highlights that perpetrators of abuse were mainly family members.\r\n\r\nTherefore, 6 (V) Sri Lanka Women’s Corp launched an awareness program of “Domestic Violence” at Dharmapuram Primary School on 08 December 2015 to educate Kilinochchi peoples, how to effect of domestic violence to family life and social.\r\n.\r\nThis awareness programme conducted by Mr. N. Nirthanarupan and Mrs. T. Nishanthi from Legal Aid Commission – Mulathivu with invitation of 57 Division. Approximately 75 civilians were participated this event and during programme civil dancing team displayed a drama relevant to the domestic violence for attendance to gain more knowledge. Col K A N N Koswatte, Commander, 572 Brigade, Commanding Officer – 6 (V) SLAWC, Rev. Fr Daniel Murthi, Mr V Premakumar and Civilians were attended this awareness programme.\r\n
