On the direction of Major General K A D A Karunasekara, Commander - Security Forces Kilinochchi, troops has proceed an emergency contingency plan for rescue and relief operations with the coordination of District Secretariats and Disaster Management Centre – Kilinochchi.\r\n \r\n At the moment Army troops rushed to flood affected areas and provided relief to more than 884 victims of 285 families after shifting to relief centers in the Kilinochchi District. Meanwhile, relief teams of 8 SLSR and 9 VIR managed to rescue 36 civilians in Ponnagar, Kilinochchi on 13 November 2015.\r\n\r\n Similarly, 6 SLNG troops restored the bund of the Karappankulam Tank in Karachchi immediately when a part of the bund was threatened with imminent burst on 14 November 2015, thus preventing a major disaster.\r\n
