Considering the fast swelling numbers of COVID – 19 infected persons, troops in Security Force Kilinochchi converted Army camp - 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry A Company - Paranthan in to an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) which consists with 200 beds.
The SFHQ-Kilinochchi as per guidelines given by General Shavendra Silva, Head, NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army has been busy converting several such places in the Kilinochchi area in order to face any contingencies, related to COVID-19 pandemic. To be in line with that, SL Army improvised, the 3rd ICC and declared open within a few days of time under the close supervision and guidance of Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi and District Coordinating Officer for COVID-19 Outbreak of Kilinochchi District.
Commander Security Force Kilinochchi made an observation visit in order to inspect the ICC - Paranthan on 17 May 2021 which has begun operations today onwards. During the visit, he inquired into their needs and had a chat with the medical staff as regards its operational and supporting roles. Further, he appreciates dedication and commitments of the troops who are involving this critical period of our society along with General Officers Commanding, Brigade commanders and other formation commanders.
Dr Selwam - IDH Krishnapuram, Commander Forward Maintenance Area Major General Piyal Naanayakkarawasam, General Officer Commanding 66 Infantry Division Major General Ajith Dissanayake, Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Deepal Hathurusinghe, Commander 662 Brigade Colonel Chaminda Liyanage, Colonel General Staff of the SFHQ (KLN), Commanding Officer 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and other senior officers at the Army Base Hospital in SFHQ (KLN) also participated in the opening event.
